My name is Rebekah, and I recently crossed the threshold into my 25th year of life. I’ve decided to make TWENTY-FIVE the year of getting things done, and there are two major things on my list that need to happen.
They need to happen because I only have one life, and I have big plans for it. There are a lot of things I want to do, which is mostly a giant list of places I want to see, and I don’t want to waste any more time.
The first thing I’m doing is trying to get out of debt. I have about a little over $15,000 in student loans that I would oh so very much love to get rid of as quickly as possible. To do that, this is going to be the year of the Spending Freeze. I’m only spending money on my needs – rent, utilities, groceries, gas – and I’m going to cut back on those as much as I can. No wants are allowed – no eating out or new clothes or aimless trips to the bookstore because I’m bored. Sounds simple enough, right?
The second thing I’m going to do is go to East Africa and volunteer for a solid chunk of time. I’m thinking three months to start me off and get my feet wet. I’ll be raising money for that adventure, so stay tuned if you feel like chipping in. I’ll need all the help I can get!
I am documenting both adventures – the challenge of a Spending Freeze and the raising/saving/going to Africa – right here. I’d love for you to stick around for a little encouragement and moral support. :)
